2014 Børge Mogensen Peoples Chair Design Museum Denmark - Original Vintage Poster
2014 Børge Mogensen Peoples Chair Design Museum Denmark - Original Vintage Poster
"The Danish Chair" was an exhibition on Design Museum Demark held in 2014.
The poster features an image of the Peoples Chair designed by the furniture architect Børge Mogensen in 1943-1944.
The chair was sold by FDB (today Coop) wish is a Danish Consumers Cooperative Society and operates a long list of retail store chains - in some of which this chair was sold and still are today. This poster advertises furniture from FDB with a slogan: "Beautiful, appropriate and cheap".
The Peoples Chair soon became a very popular chair among the broad population in Denmark. Not only was the chair priced reasonable and quite simple to construct but the chair was also elegant and comfortable. It is also one of the few chairs which can be used as a practical chair at the dining table but also as a relaxing chair in the living room.
Børge Mogensen was head of the FDB design studio in the period 1942-1950. This was the period just before the breakthrough of the re-known mid-century Danish design.
