2001 Wiinblad 2001 Nights (Signed) - Original Vintage Poster

Signed poster designed specially for “Lyngby Natten” (Lyngby Night), a cultural evening event held in Lyngby, Denmark, on 31 August 2001. 

The event formed part of the town’s local cultural festivities, where shops, galleries, cafés, and cultural institutions stayed open late and the streets filled with performances, exhibitions, and public activities.

The poster was designed by the celebrated Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad, who lived for many years in Lyngby just north of Copenhagen. Wiinblad had a close connection to the town and often contributed artwork to local cultural events and charity projects.

The title “2001 Nats Eventyr med Scheherezade” cleverly references both the year 2001 and the famous Middle Eastern folk tales One Thousand and One Nights. Wiinblad playfully transforms “1001 Nights” into “2001 Nights,” continuing a theme he explored in earlier poster works inspired by Scheherazade and the fantasy universe of Arabian tales. The dreamlike female figure, bright colors, and theatrical composition are classic examples of Wiinblad’s whimsical and decorative style.

The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line.

The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). 

Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
