This terrifying advertisement is was one of many famous lunched by Benetton in the 1990s.
The poster displays a Liberian soldier with a Kalashnikov rifle, holding what appears to be a human bone. An image like this gives associations colonialism, racism and poverty.
The Benetton advertisements in 1990s were arguably provoking and controversial during that time as the pictures often reflected issues such as racism, human rights and pollution. Some advertisements even had pictures of people dying of AIDS and people from the "Death Row".
