Dramatic exhibition poster with later art by Marc Chagall.
The art on the poster is called "Easter" and was painted in 1968. The exhibition was called "The donation - The Heritage after Marc Chagall" and was set up in Louisiana Museum in 1990.
Marc Zakharovich Chagall (1887-1985) was a Russian-French artist who is famous for mixing many artistic styles into colorful and sensual artworks. Or as Pablo Picasso said one day in 1950: "When Matisse dies, Chagall will be the only painter left who understands what colour really is".
Louisiana (Danish Museum of Modern Art) is located in Humlebæk north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The museum was opened its doors in 1958 and with its approximately 600,000 annual visitors, is one of Denmark's most visited museums and among the ten most visited tourist attractions. Louisiana is a collection of contemporary art, but also an interaction between art, architecture and landscape.
Louisiana got his name from court master Alexander Brun, who built a villa on the site in 1855. The villa's name is probably inspired by the three women he married - all three were named Louise. The founder of Louisiana chose to keep the name from the country house he subsequently transformed into a museum. The villa is now a part of the museum.
