Here is a really friendly Wiinblad poster displaying a scene from the fairy tale "Little Ida’s Flowers".
The fairy tale was written by the infamous Hans Christian Andersen in 1835 (one of his earliest recorded stories). In the fairy tale is little Ida who is sad because she thinks all of her flowers are dying. But then she discovers that they are merely recovering from the night before as they where playing music, dancing and having fun. The rest of the fairy tale is up for you to read.
I believe the poster was made for a scene play but I am not certain. If you are into Wiinblad posters you have probably noted that the face of Ida is less imaginative and closer to reality than the average face from Wiinblad's hand.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
