A powerful art deco image of the "Sølvpilen" locomotive driving through the night.
Sølvpilen (Silver Arrow) was an express train from 1966 which served the Danish State Railways on route from Copenhagen to Jutland. The model is known as Litra MA with a top speed of 160 kph. The original color of the locomotive was red but it was painted silver in 1986.
I have been told that this poster was given to employees of the Danish State Railways and that the poster was not commercially intended.
It is clear that the poster was inspired by earlier Danish State Railways poster with its minimalist Art Deco look which makes a strong impression and adds a very powerful look. In the background is the old Copenhagen Central Station and in front is the newly built station in Høje Taastrup from 1986. A strong signal of the future. However, the locomotives was replaced by the IC3 train - only three years after the birth of this poster.
