This poster was made for the 100 year anniversary for "Danmarks Rederiforening" (Danish Shipowners' Association) and displays the curvy front of a huge ship with a smaller steam ship in the background. In this way the artist (Otto Nielsen) makes the 100 year of the shipping industry into an stunning artwork.
Danish Shipowners' Association is a non-profit organization that organizes 40 shipping companies and two owners of offshore facilities. Half of the association members have ships sailing under Danish flag while the other half operate from Denmark but sail under flags of other states. The association was founded in 1884 which gives me the reason to believe the poster was made in 1984.
Overall this is a great poster by the legendary poster artist Otto Nielsen who is famous for making several iconic travel posters for SAS. The poster is rarely seen and has to be a must-have for Otto Nielsen admires like myself.
Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions.
