The art on the poster is called Champs de mars (Field of Mars) and was painted in 1954-55.
The poster was made to promote an exhibition at Museum Folkwang in Essen in Germany.
Marc Zakharovich Chagall (1887-1985) was a Russian-French artist who is famous for mixing many artistic styles into colorful and sensual artworks. Or as Pablo Picasso said one day in 1950: "When Matisse dies, Chagall will be the only painter left who understands what color really is".
