This poster is among the favorite items by Wiinblad collectors. Quite a few Wiinblad fans has asked me to find and list this poster and I am happy that I finally found it.
The poster was made to promote a tour by "The Copenhagen Boys' Choir" (also known as "The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir" since 1998). The choir was founded in 1924 and remains one of Scandinavia's oldest choral foundations and is considered to be a choir with rich traditions. The choir is often present when the Danish royal family throws a party but they also sing in connection with State Visits and other finer events and festivities.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic minimalist line.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and in many other museums all over the world.
