A very cool art deco-inspired poster displaying an old steam train leaving Victoria Station in London.
The poster advertises the Venice-Simplon Orient Express which is a private owned luxury train that normally runs between London and Venice. The train is popularly known as the Orient Express - like its historical counterpart.
The company was established in 1982 by James Sherwood of Kentucky and five years earlier, in 1977, he had purchased two of the original train cars at an auction by Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits after they had withdrawn from the operation of the Orient Express. Over the next few years spent Sherwood 16 million US dollars to buy 35 sleeping, dining and saloon cars.
