A nice exhibition poster by Pablo Picasso!
The artwork on the poster is called "The Supplicant" (1937) is a powerful charcoal and pastel drawing created during the same period as his iconic anti-war mural Guernica. Depicting a kneeling woman with outstretched arms and a contorted expression, the work captures themes of anguish, desperation, and plea for mercy. With stark lines and raw emotion, Picasso channels the suffering of civilians during the Spanish Civil War, making The Supplicant a haunting symbol of human vulnerability in times of conflict.
Louisiana (Danish Museum of Modern Art) is located in Humlebæk north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The museum was opened its doors in 1958 and with its approximately 600,000 annual visitors, is one of Denmark's most visited museums and among the ten most visited tourist attractions. Louisiana is a collection of contemporary art, but also an interaction between art, architecture and landscape.
Louisiana got his name from court master Alexander Brun, who built a villa on the site in 1855. The villa's name is probably inspired by the three women he married - all three were named Louise. The founder of Louisiana chose to keep the name from the country house he subsequently transformed into a museum. The villa is now a part of the museum.
