You are looking at a rare and colorful exhibition poster by the Danish artist Asger Jorn (1914-1973).

The poster was made to promote an exhibition on Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in France in 1978.

Asger Jorn is an internationally know Danish painter and as a student from L'Académie contemporaine (led by Fernand Léger) he adopted a strict artistic discipline that implied that an image motif was first worked as a drawing before it was realized. His artistic painting style is known as spontaneous abstract.

Through Léger, Jorn was employed with Le Corbusier as an assistant at the construction of a pavilion for the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937.

His most famous work is called "Stalingrad" - The title refers to the Battle of Stalingrad during World War 2. The image is considered a masterpiece of 1900 century European painting. Asger Jorn donated it in 1966 to the Silkeborg Museum. Many of his post-war paintings symbolizes his fear for another devastating world war.

Please note: this poster is rare in this size.
