This striking original poster was created in 1977 for DSB (Danske Statsbaner), Denmark’s national railway. Designed by the renowned Danish graphic artist Rasmus Nellemann, it is a beautiful example of Scandinavian modernist poster art.
Nellemann’s distinctive line-based illustration style dominates the composition: a network of black, textured strokes forms an abstracted view of railway structures with signal bridges, masts, and industrial frameworks. The entire image is constructed from repeated linear patterns, creating a rhythm that evokes both movement and machinery. Against this intricate black graphic, the bright red DSB lettering stands out with powerful simplicity.
Rasmus Nellemann is celebrated for his refined, minimalist approach to visual communication. His work for DSB in the 1970s helped define a new era of Danish transport design — blending functional clarity with artistic abstraction.
