Original Morris Louis exhibition poster from Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark.

Morris Louis (1912–1962) was an American painter known for his role in the Color Field movement. He developed a unique technique of pouring thinned paint onto unprimed canvas, creating fluid, luminous layers of color.

Influenced by Helen Frankenthaler, Louis’s signature works, such as the "Veils" and "Unfurleds" series, are celebrated for their vibrant use of color and abstract forms. Despite his short career, his innovative approach had a lasting impact on modern abstract painting.
