Stunning original exhibition poster from Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark.
The poster was made from a detail Takao Iijima (1931), better known by his art name Ay-O. This poster is a nice close-up of the larger artwork called "Rainbow Hokusai" which was created in 1970. If you have time, you should look up the story about how the artwork was smuggled out of Japan in the 1970s because the artist was afraid the artwork would be confiscated in the customs.
The artwork is inspired by the Japanese "Shōwa period" corresponding to the reign of the Shōwa Emperor, Hirohito (1926-1989). However, this artwork is mainly inspired by the works of the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849). I urge you to look up the art of Hokusai to get the full history.
Overall a stylish and colorful poster which surely will get a lot of attention when placed on your wall.
