A beautiful and psychedelic portrait of Jimi Hendrix performing his version of "Hey Joe". A rare find too!
This poster was created by the Polish artist Waldemar Świerzy (1931-2013) who was a member of the infamous CYRK group. CYRK emerged around 1962 as a genre of the Polish School of Posters. The posters are characterized by their display of aesthetic qualities such as painterly gestures, linear design, hand-lettering, metaphors, humor, and vibrant colors. Świerzy was very active in the group and during the 1970s he created portraits of famous musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Charles Mingus and Charlie Parker.
Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) needs no further introduction as he is considered one of the greatest guitarist in rock music history. On this poster Hendrix' image is used as an advertisement for a Danish savings bank which announces an "International Savings Day" the 31. October 1972.
Overall this poster is typical of the poster from the 1970s with vibrant colors and an abstract image. I am sure whoever get this gem will be very happy by having this great artwork on the wall.
