Interesting and historical exhibition poster encouraging people to visit an exhibition on alternative Swedish art.
The picture on the poster was taken on Svenska flaggans dag (Swedish Flag Day) on June 6, 1969. The happening was organized by PUSS - a provocative underground satirical magazine. PUSS made many bold and rebellious stunts in the period 1968 to 1974.
Some of PUSS' happenings was a photo montage by Lars Hillersberg depicting the People's Party leader Sven Wedén naked with a mask, which led to the issue being confiscated by authorities.
Additionally, Carl Johan De Geer, one of PUSS’s contributors, “wrote the word ‘Kuken’ (meaning “the dick”) on a Swedish flag”, which resulted in a police report
Like many other groups from that era PUSS was renowned for performing public provocations—blurring the lines between performance art and political statement.
Louisiana (Danish Museum of Modern Art) is located in Humlebæk north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The museum was opened its doors in 1958 and with its approximately 600,000 annual visitors, is one of Denmark's most visited museums and among the ten most visited tourist attractions. Louisiana is a collection of contemporary art, but also an interaction between art, architecture and landscape.
Louisiana got his name from court master Alexander Brun, who built a villa on the site in 1855. The villa's name is probably inspired by the three women he married - all three were named Louise. The founder of Louisiana chose to keep the name from the country house he subsequently transformed into a museum. The villa is now a part of this magnificent museum.
