A great costume sketch by Wiinblad for the fairy tale "The Swineherd" by the famous writer Hans Christian Andersen. This motif displays the prince - which plays a significant role in the story.
The story goes something like this:
"There was once a poor Prince; he had a kingdom which was quite small, but it was large enough to marry, and marry he would. It was certainly rather cool of him to say to the Emperor's daughter, "would you have me?" But he ventured to do, for his name was renowned far and wide, there were a hundred princesses who would have said thanks, but see if she did it..."
-The rest is up for you to read but I am pretty sure that the prince at some point will come across the lady we see on this very poster..
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The poster will be shipped wrapped in paper and rolled inside a tube.
