Here is one of Wiinblad's more less-known posters illustrating a green heart-shaped square in the bustling city of Dallas, Texas.
The poster can be interpreted as the square/park being a green lung in a concrete jungle. The happy faces of the people sitting in the tree tells us that the square is an import place for the good city life.
I believe the poster is an advertisement for "Thanks Giving Square" situated in Dallas. The date of the poster could by narrowed to 1976 when the Thanks Giving Square re-opened as the first public-private partnership of its kind in Dallas.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style which is far from the traditional and minimalist Nordic line.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
