A really nice costume sketch by the Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad depicting Prospero who is a fictional characters in William Shakespeare's play The Tempest.
Prospero is a magician and the rightful duke of Milan.
This poster is accurately a sketch for a theater performance. Wiinblad designed many decorations and costumes for both revues, plays, ballets. "The Tempest" was set up in Dallas Theater Center in Texas from 1965–1966.
The mini poster is printed on high quality watercolor paper which is probably the same kind of paper used by Wiinblad to make the original sketch with. The paper has fine little textures and really adds to the artistic impression.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and many other museums all over the world.
