This is quite a classic image of the traditional Spain in the 1960s with beautiful dressed up and dark-haired Spanish ladies getting ready for the Sundays bullfighting. The image of the brave and masculine matador elegantly showings his artistic bullfighting skills in the arena is adding a very Spanish look to this colorful poster.
In front of the ladies and the bullfighting lies a couple of lemons which is harvested in abundant quantities in the southern part of Spain and is an important export and ingredients to use in the Spanish cuisine. The lemons is marked with an "s" to indicate the lemons had a lot of sun but in this context I believe it is a metaphor for the sun.
The poster is signed by the artist "Donat Sauri" who was a Spanish artist who also created Spanish adverting posters for football and bullfighting in the 1960s. You can find his poster creations being sold at auctions houses all over the world.
The date of production is 1962 as you can see on the photo and you can also see a text saying: "venta prohibida" meaning "selling this item is prohibited" which marks that this poster is not very common (I will make an exception on the selling in this case).
All in all a great exotic vintage poster from a period in Spanish history were ladies were ladies and men were men. If you seek to light up your room with a classy Latin image this is the one to grab.
