Powerful and detail-rich poster displaying a female refugee searching for hope.
The poster was made for an exhibition called "Help The Refugee" at Øregaard musuem in Copenhagen, Denmark. The poster says: Help the refugee - visit the exhibition of the Refugee council - my dearest property". The exhibition was made my The Danish Refugee Council (NGO) in order to raise money for helping the worlds refugees.
The poster was inspired by the French artist Eugène Delacroix painting "Orphan Girl at the Cemetery" from the 1820s.
The poster was designed so the image appears cracked or patinated.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. However, this poster is a rare insight to seriousness which reach another level compared to his other artworks.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Note: this poster is extremely difficult to find. This is the second time I have this in stock in seven years.
