This delightful original Swiss travel poster was created by Herbert Leupin, one of Switzerland's most celebrated poster artists and a pioneer of postwar graphic design.
Commissioned to promote Davos Parsenn, the country's premier ski destination, the poster features Leupin's charming snowman carrying skis and a bouquet of flowers - an image that perfectly captures the playful spirit and hospitality of the Swiss Alps.
Rather than depicting dramatic mountain scenery or skiers in action, Leupin used a whimsical, painterly character to create an instantly memorable advertisement. The bold blue background, loose brushstrokes, and cheerful simplicity reflect the optimistic style of 1950s Swiss commercial art. This approach made Leupin's posters highly influential and remains instantly recognizable today.
Davos Parsenn is one of the world's legendary ski regions, offering over 300 km of pistes and attracting winter sports enthusiasts since the late 19th century. Posters such as this became iconic ambassadors for Swiss tourism during the golden age of Alpine travel.
