1950s Danish Butter Margarine Advertisement - Kloster Margarine - Original Vintage Poster
Your perfect kitchen decor is right here!
This is a great mid-century advertisement featuring a scene from the 1950s kitchen with a young woman reading a cookbook. The headliner of the poster "- man tager.." ( -first you take..) is a classical starter for a recipe and while the woman is holding a nice package of Kloster Margarine makes it easy to figure the margarine is a central ingredient in her recipe.
The poster artist is René Michaëlis (1902-1974) who was born in Germany but fled to Denmark in the 1930s during Hitler's regime. Michaëlis was originally working in the growing German film industry but in Denmark he began to paint in oil and was later hired as a freelance advertising designer.
Overall this is a brilliant advertisement - typical of its age. As the it was fashion with product advertisement in the 1950s the margarine has been enlarged to add focus and highlight the product.
