Your perfect kitchen decor is right here!
This is a great mid-century advertisement featuring a young lady returning from the market with her goods. Among with her leeks, cabbage and tomatoes is of cause "Den Danske Margarine" in abundance. The advertisement in an anniversary poster celebrating the 50th year of the product - this is why the lovely lady on the poster is dressed as a lady from the beginning of the last century.
The poster artist is René Michaëlis (1902-1974) who was born in Germany but fled to Denmark in the 1930s during Hitler's regime. Michaëlis was originally working in the growing German film industry but in Denmark he began to paint in oil and was later hired as a freelance advertising designer.
Overall this is a brilliant advertisement - typical of its age. As the it was fashion with product advertisement in the 1950s the margarine has been enlarged to add focus and highlight the product.
