Commemorative exhibition poster for the 1946 "Memory Exhibition" (Mindeudstillingen) honoring the renowned artist Edvard Munch. Held at Copenhagen City Hall just two years after Munch's death, the exhibition celebrated his extraordinary contribution to modern art.
Edvard Munch (1863-1944) was a Norwegian painter greatly influenced German Expressionism. He is immortalized by the world famous painting called "The Scream".
The poster features one of Munch's iconic expressionist images, reflecting the emotional intensity and psychological depth for which he is world-famous
This poster features the artwork called "Jealousy" (Sjalusi). Munch returned to this image throughout his whole life - he completed no less than 11 painted versions of Jealousy. The first painting was executed in 1895, and the last was made during the 1930s.
