This image probably sums up a perfect holiday for most of us!
Here is a wonderful and early travel poster displaying a woman sunbathing on a green lush field. Travelling with airplane in the late 1940s was not something everyone could afford. If you think this poster looks like the typical charter holiday poster - think again. This poster was ahead of its time. Alone adding a lady from that angle and in such an outfit must have been a bit provoking in the difficult years after WWII.
BEA or British European Airlines was a major British airline founded in 1946. The airline was once the largest domestic airline in Great Britain but in 1974 BEA merged with British Overseas Airways Corporation to create British Airways.
The age of the poster can be determined by looking at the BEA logo in the upper left corner. The logo was in use between 1946-49.
