When World War I roamed the planet and different countries where struggling to win the war, there was another war which was as important as the one fought on the frontline..
Back in 1917 and 1918, the French government issued "Emprunt de la Libération" (liberty loans) to raise money for its involvement in World War I (1914-18). The loans was particularly subscribed to citizens but also interest groups (such as banks and investors) with interest to financially support the Allied war effort. The loans worked similar to the American "liberty bonds" from which we also have many vintage posters.
This is quite the unusual world war one poster as two different soldiers from two different countries are seen on the same poster. Flanked by two English soldiers (one ready to throw a hand grenade another firing his rifle) is a French soldier waving his hat as a sign of victory is the middle. Notice how the soldiers stand on the battlefield together with eksplosions around them pointing towards a common enemy. "On les a" written on poster can be translated into "We got them" which seems like a suitable battle cry for the Allies when they knew the war came to a victorious close.
This poster is not just great artwork - it is also a rare piece history which easily could be on display in a museum.
Please note: the poster is linen backed on canvas but can easily be rolled and will be shipped in a sturdy tube.

Artist: Firmin Bouisset (signed in print by artist)
Print: Stone lithography (Print by Vaugirard, Paris)
Dimensions: 31.3 x 46.7 in (79.5 x 118.5 cm)
Condition: Good vintage condition - the main image is good condition and there is some ceases on the edges where the poster is only partly attached to the linen. There is no paper loss but the poster has few minor cracks in the bottom and in the center the poster has a few small folds. The linen backing seems to be quite old and has two stamps and the year "1918" on its back. Overall he poster looks great considering the poster is almost 100 years old. I am confident that it will look superb in a good frame.
