A rare pencil-signed exhibition poster by Henry Heerup.
The poster advertises an exhibition set up by a group or union of alternative artist know as "Decembristerne". The exhibition was set up in 1987 in "Den Frie Udstilling" (The Free Exhibition) which is also a place for alternative art. Indeed, there is nothing conform, regular or mainstream in Heerup's work either.
The poster was made the Danish painter, sculptor and print maker Henry Heerup (1907-1993) who made the poster using color chalks on paper giving the image a detail rich dept and colorful look. Heerup's art is worn by the original simple and fertile imagination and it is characterized by humor and humanity but he could be seriously as well.
The hallmark of Henry Heerup's painting and graphics, predominantly lino cuts are recurring characters such as crosses, wheels and heart, but above all, the woman, the child and the Goblin, His figures and often also the colors had (according to himself) an almost solid symbolic value.
