Beautiful abstract exhibition poster!

Asger Jorn (1914-73) is an internationally know Danish painter and as a student from L'Académie contemporaine (led by Fernand Léger) he adopted a strict artistic discipline that implied that an image motif was first worked as a drawing before it was realized. His artistic painting style is known as spontaneous abstract.

Through Léger, Jorn was employed with Le Corbusier as an assistant at the construction of a pavilion for the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937.

His most famous work is called "Stalingrad" - The title refers to the Battle of Stalingrad during World War 2. The image is considered a masterpiece of 1900 century European painting. Asger Jorn donated it in 1966 to the Silkeborg Museum. Many of his post-war paintings symbolizes his fear for another devastating world war.
