This action packed poster is an old advertising poster for Carlsberg Grape Fruit Tonic. The tonic has now been taken out of production but I cannot figure out when or why. The text is in Danish and can be translated into: "Grab a Grape - after the heat of battle".
What I do know is that the poster is designed by Harry Schaare (1922-2008). Schaare has been an illustrator for magazines as Readers Digest and Aviation Week and a frequent designer of book covers, having worked for practically every major paperback publisher in New York. He even painted the marquette for a "Star Wars" bedspread.
Schaare was born in NY, and served as pilot in the Air Corp during WWII and has since traveled around the world as artist for the U.S. Air Force. Over twenty five of his artworks are in the United States Air Force art collection.
All in all - this is a great opportunity to grab a truly magnificent piece of art for a quite fair price.
