A beer from before the world went mad!
The text on the poster says: "Time is not something to have. Its something you take.. take time to enjoy a Red Tuborg". The small text in the bottom of the poster can be translated into: "Do not flush a Tuborg down when you are thirsty. It will taste too good (for that). It is dark and lush but not expensive nor stronger than a lager (beer). We only took good care of it since 1875". In the corner below the capsule the slogan is: "A beer from before the world went mad".
The beer "Rød Tuborg" was the first kind of beer for the Tuborg brewery to produce in 1875 and the beer was sold as under name "Lager beer" and quickly got it German sounding name the "Tuborger" as the beer was brewed as the beers in Bavaria, Germany.
Later the beer got its nickname "Rød" ("Red" - as the color) in public and soon the all larger beer in Denmark was nicknamed "Rød". The first advertisement for the Rød Tuborg is from 1932 and this is why this very poster has people dressed up in a scenery from that period. This advertisement is one of the most famous from Rød Tuborg but despite the great advertisements the beer came in an end in 2002. That led to protests in some circles of the Danish society as the beer was associated with the political left wing (most likely because of its red label color).
After several protests the beer was the relaunched in 2007 on Tuborg's anniversary for a limited period and again in 2008 but only in May. Today the beer has developed into a seasonal beer.
This poster is must for everyone who seeks to decorate a room, bar or cafe with a stylish beer poster with a beautiful Danish street scene on it. This poster use to hang in a Copenhagen bar and has never been for sale for private costumers.
