A nice exhibition poster advertising an exhibition with works by Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee.
Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian painter and is preferably known for his abstract paintings. His Paul Klee (1879-1940) was a Swiss German artist influenced by movements in art that included Expressionism, Cubism, and Surrealism. They where both students of the legendary Bauhaus school of art, design and architecture.
The artwork on the poster is called "Painting with red spot" and was made in 1914 by Kandinsky.
Louisiana (Danish Museum of Modern Art) is located in Humlebæk north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The museum was opened its doors in 1958 and with its approximately 600,000 annual visitors, is one of Denmark's most visited museums and among the ten most visited tourist attractions. Louisiana is a collection of contemporary art, but also an interaction between art, architecture and landscape.
Louisiana got his name from court master Alexander Brun, who built a villa on the site in 1855. The villa's name is probably inspired by the three women he married - all three were named Louise. The founder of Louisiana chose to keep the name from the country house he subsequently transformed into a museum. The villa is now a part of the museum.
