A Royal Life Guard and a businessman is having a jolly good time on this Copenhagen travel poster.
This advertisement was commissioned by "Wonderful Copenhagen" (the tourist board in Copenhagen) and displays (what appears to be) an English businessman who briefly changed positions with the guard in a sentry box. The sentry box also works as a phone booth - looking very much like the iconic red phone booths in England.
This poster is probably a printing proof as the poster is slightly larger than the similar posters and the poster has no text. The text would be: "Business is a Pleasure in Wonderful Copenhagen" and "Scandinavian Gateway to the European Market" - it is clearly a businessman just arrived from Copenhagen Airport by looking at his suitcase.
The poster artist, Ib Antoni (1929-1973), is a quite famous artist and received many prizes during his 20 year career. He created more than 300 posters in his career and among them is several Tivoli Garden, Visit Denmark and Wonderful Copenhagen posters. Smiling people was among Antoni's favorite subjects and his line was always happy and romantic which makes this poster quite true to his cheerful style.
Overall this is a great vintage poster featuring good vibrations along a creative artwork by one of Denmark's most beloved artists.
