This very fine poster displays a young girl working in the field collection materials for creating two rope types for the manufacturer, Randes Rope.
This poster advertises Manila and Sisal rope. Manila is made from natural fiber and has a high wear and tear resistance. The color is light brown and is quite strong and does not absorb water - the ideal rope for a smaller sail boat. The cheaper Sisal rope is also light brown and a rather strongly rope but wear out quickly and sucks water.
The poster was made by the legendary Danish poster artist Aage Sikker Hansen (1897-1955) who also created some of the most iconic poster in Danish poster history including advertisements known as "Cirkel Kaffe" and "Davre Gryn". His posters are often made using only pencil and charcoal which makes his images quite detail rich with many textures and shades.
All in all a great vintage poster that will do a very fine job decorating any wall it might be placed on.
