When World War I roamed the planet and different countries where struggling to win the war, there was another war which was as important as the one fought on the frontline..

Back in 1917 and 1918, the United States government issued "liberty bonds" to raise money for its involvement in World War I. The loans was particularly subscribed to citizens but also interest groups (such as banks and investors) with interest to financially support the Allied war effort.

When the outcome of the war was clear the name was changed to "victory liberty loans". The loans was also used in World War 2 and many great posters were made to encourage people to support the war effort. The message of the poster is that a certain financial target was completed and now the U.S. government appeals to its citizen for continued support. This is empathized in the text "We made it - how about you?".

Posters like this one are still used (as reprints) in the present day by charities.
