Another magnificent and decorative artwork by Bjørn Wiinblad which advertises that if you plant a tree - it will be a growing joy!
The poster was made in 1974 in connection with a "Plant a Tree Campaign" by the Danish Nurseries organized in "Danish Nursery Owners" which still exists today.
In the 1970s some of the members started a limited company called "The Propaganda Central of the Plant Schools". It was tasked to conduct a number of marketing tasks, including to make and sell signs for use in the different Flower/Tree/Plant shops around the country. Today this company no longer in exists.
Later in the 80s Wiinblad also made a campaign poster for "Plant a Tree Organization" which has the Danish crown prince, Frederik, as patron. Since 1988 the organization has planted 1000's of trees in Denmark: single trees, orchards at child care centers, educational forests, avenues, memorial trees and so on.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
