A quite unique and rare exhibition poster made by the Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad in 1972.
The poster was designed for a small Christmas exhibition held at Wiinblad's very own house north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Not many posters was printed for this show which makes this piece a truly must-have for any Wiinblad collector.
Although this poster was created for the Christmas time it can be used all year around - in my opinion there is not too much Christmas decoration in its looks. I guess the woman of on image is in fact an angel as it appears that she has a pair of golden wings attached to her back. Her friendly looks and hair decoration also appears to be quite divine. This is surely a poster that will light up any wall and bring much joy into any room it might be placed in.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York - just to mention a few.
