This is probably the most famous Deauville travel poster.
Deauville one of the most fashionable of French beaches located in Normandy on the French Atlantic coast.
With its race course, international film festival, marinas, Grand Casino, and sumptuous hotels, Deauville is regarded as the "queen of the Norman beaches" and one of the most prestigious seaside resorts in all of France. As the closest seaside resort to Paris, the city and its region of the Côte Fleurie (Flowery Coast) has long been home to French high society's seaside houses and is often referred to as the Parisian riviera.
The poster artist is Kees van Dongen famous for his French Expressionist painting style was the perfect match for making a Deauville travel poster. van Dongen (1877 -1968) was a Dutch painter known as one of the Fauvists. His often caricatured style accommodated many contrasts and strong colors and some of hist favorite motifs were nude models and portraits of women.
