A very rare, very large and very beautiful advertisement made by Bjørn Wiinblad for the Danish Royal Ballet.
The poster advertises The Danish Ballet on tour in 1988 at "The Met" - which is sort for "The Metropolitan Museum of Art" located in New York City. On the poster is a ballet dancer performing in an fairy tale landscape which captures the setting in a magical way.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic minimalist line.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Please note: this listing contains two posters and when attached together they create one huge oblong poster. The bottom poster has a black mark/line where the "bottom poster" is ment to overlap the "top poster" so you can the perfect overlap. I apologize for the bad picture of the complete poster - there it looks like there is a line between the two posters. This is only because the posters were not completely flat (the bend at little from being rolled up) when I took the picture. With both posters laying flat the posters will overlap perfectly.
Also note: This item is oversize so the shipping cost is a bit higher then other posters. However, you are welcome to add as many posters you wish for no extra cost.
Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions.
