A beautifully detailed theatre advertisement by the Danish artist and writer Ib Spang Olsen (1921-2012).
Rimfaxe Theatre was a "theater collective" founded in 1970 in Copenhagen. The collective was mainly concerned with political issues but also anti-nuclear power and pollution which was debated and expressed by several performances throughout the 1970s. Later the theatre became more "conventional" as the collective also performed well-known plays. The theatre was finally closed in 1995.
The play for this poster is called "Højt på Strå" - which means that someone is influential, lucky or behave superior. Literally the translation is something like "Lying high on the straw" which can be seen on the poster - a couple of people lying in the straw cart having a good time and the working pheasants behind the cart looks less fortunate. I believe this play could be a satirical play about capitalism.
Thanks a lot for watching and please let me know if you have any questions.
