A truly legendary poster from a spectacular World Cup!
This is one of the original official posters from the FIFA World Cup hosted by France in 1998.
A total of eleven posters was made to promote the event. Ten posters was made - one for each of the venues including: Bordeaux, Paris, Montpellier, Marseille, Lyon, Saint-Étienne, Toulouse, Lens, Nantes and Saint-Denis. One was made to promote the whole event.
This poster was made to promote the city of Saint Etienne featuring the stadium Stade Geoffroy Guichard with a capacity of 30.600 seats. The stadium was also where the semi-final between Brazil and The Netherlands ended 1-1 (Brazil won on penalty).
The poster features the official 1998 FRANCE WORLD CUP logo, the name of the poster designer, copyrights as well as the year of print (1997).
France won the world cup with a stunning a 3-0 victory over former champions Brazil with two goals by Zinedine Zidane one by Emmanuel Petit. Even after France was reduced to ten players Brazil was unable to get back in the fight and France won their first World Cup.
Overall this is a nice and rare football/soccer poster which is true to the late 1990s style Graphics.
