A truly legendary poster from the dawn of professional soccer!
This is one of the original official poster from the UEFA European Championship hosted by France in 1984.
A total of nine posters was made to promote the event. One was made for seven of each of the venues which was: Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Saint-Étienne, Lens, Nantes and Strasbourg. One was made to promote the whole event and one extra was for the final which was played at Parc des Princes stadium in Paris.
This poster was made to promote the final on the stadium Parc des Princes in Paris with a capacity of 48,360 seats. On the poster are the dates of the matches which was played in the city. The poster also features the UEFA Euro 1984 official logo as well as the year of print (1983). The player on the poster is joggling with balls painted as flags from the eight participating countries.
France won the tournament by a 2-0 victory over Spain with goals by Platini and Bellone. Even after France was reduced to ten players Spain was unable to get back in the fight and France won their first major championship in world football.
Overall this is a nice and rare football/soccer poster which is very true to the famous 1980s style graphics.
