Marvelous industrial travel poster displaying a giant hammer with the handle as chimney!

The poster encourages people to visit Aalborg located in Denmark. Throughout the 1900s Aalborg was known as an industrial city - also known as the city with the smoking chimneys and home to several large companies within cement, tobacco, shipbuilding and spirits. Like many other European cities Aalborg is undergoing a transformation from being an industrial city to being a city of knowledge and education.

Many poster enthusiasts are familiar with Viggo Vagnby (1896-1966) and his iconic "Wonderful Copenhagen" poster where a police officer is stops the entire traffic a let a little family of duck across the road.

Vagnby who later became a cartoonist and advertising poster artist, originally debuted as a cubist painter. He further trained in drawing in France in the 1920s and started his own firm to work with advertising images and exhibition architect in Denmark. He made several famous tourist posters like the "Skagen poster" from 1955 depicting a plaice like a painter's palette.

Indeed this is a dramatic and historical poster in superb deep and fading colors.

Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions.
