So you are looking at Spanish festival poster from the town of Teruel in the eastern part of the country near Valencia.
Every year the town celebrates "Fiestas del Angel" which is a mixture of bullfighting and festival. The Patron Saint of Teruel is St. Christopher and the local fiestas are celebrated on the Sunday nearest to St. Christopher's Day (10th July). Then Teruel transforms itself into an explosion of diversions, which are characterized by the abundance of bullfighting.
One major highlight of the festival happens on Plaza del Torico when a human tower is constructed around a column which has a small bull statue in the top. Then the bull gets a red scarf attached to its neck and crowd goes crazy about it.
Every year since 1935 the festival makes a new poster - this edition from 1972 is differently one of most creative and inspiring Spanish festival posters from the period.
