An original exhibition poster displaying The Sydney Opera House - one of the most distinctive and famous buildings from the 1900s and among most famous venues for artistic performances in the world.
The house is located in Sydney, Australia and was designed by the Danish architect Jørn Utzon (1918-2008) and was completed in 1973. The museum of Louisiana in Denmark held an exhibition in 2009 to honer his legacy. The poster displays a print of Utzon's original hand drawing from 1961 and it is said that he got the idea of the organic shaped roofs when he was peeling an orange.
The opera house is on "The Danish Culture Canon" (Kulturkanonen) which consists of 108 works of cultural excellence in eight categories including architecture. Interestingly the opera house is the only of the 108 works in the canon that is outside Denmark. Even UNESCO has put the Sydney Opera House in the list of world cultural heritage.
