A very decorative and large exhibition poster by Salvador Dali displaying beautiful swans mirroring into elephants.
The poster was made to promote an exhibition with works by Dalí on Louisiana (Danish Museum of Modern Art).
The artwork on the poster is called "Swans Reflecting Elephants" and was made in 1937.
Louisiana is located in Humlebæk north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The museum was opened its doors in 1958 and with its approximately 600,000 annual visitors, is one of Denmark's most visited museums and among the ten most visited tourist attractions. Louisiana is a collection of contemporary art, but also an interaction between art, architecture and landscape.
Louisiana got his name from court master Alexander Brun, who built a villa on the site in 1855. The villa's name is probably inspired by the three women he married - all three were named Louise. The founder of Louisiana chose to keep the name from the country house he subsequently transformed into a museum. The villa is now a part of the museum.
Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) was a Spanish painter and is preferably known for his surrealist paintings and sculptures. His arts is represented in many famous museums all over the world and he even has his own museum (in which he is also buried) in Figueres, Spain (where he was born).
