Here is quite a cool poster displaying athletes on a winner podium.
The graphical design is cleverly made to emphasize that number one is largest and number three is the smallest. And the winner is standing with his back to the viewer. There is little doubt that the poster artist has a sense of humor - just look at the disappointment the the faces of number 2 and 3!
The poster was made to promote an exhibition by the German artist Fritz Genkinger (1934). The exhibition was set up in Munich (Germany) with pictures, drawings and graphics by Genkinger.
Genkinger had his breakthrough four years later when he was commissioned by The German Federal Press Service to design three posters for the World Cup in 1974 in West Germany. Later in 1980 Genkinger designed a portfolio with 12 original screen printing on "soccer" to the German soccer club VFB Stuttgart.
