A poster featuring artwork by the Danish painter, graphic designer and object artist, Wilhelm Freddie (1909-1995). Like the father of the psychoanalysis Wilhelm Freddie was occupied by the soul before reason as well as the lust and the flesh of the human.
Freddie was the only Danish artist who experienced being reported to the police for having produced "obscene works of art". He was given a staple punishment for its "pornographic excesses" in 1937. At a retrial in 1963 he was acquitted and the works were delivered back under great public sensation.
Wilhelm Freddie was know to be a surreal loner as he stood out from other Surrealist artists in Denmark. Despite these facts he achieved great public recognition, prizes, honors and medals.
The artwork was used on this poster as a part of an energy saving campaign issued by Danish Energy Agency in 1990.
