This is not only a brilliant poster - it is also very rare.
The poster was made by the famous Carlsberg Brewery to celebrate the 150th birthday of Georg Carstensen - the founder of Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Carstensen was born in 1812 so the poster is easy to date. The Tivoli Gardens is one of the world most famous amusement parks. The park is the second oldest amusement park in the world and is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and is by far the most visited spot in Scandinavia.
Carlsberg made use of their famous blue elephant which was widely in use in the 1950s-60s but they gave the elephant a twist. The elephant has fireworks coming out of its trunk which is a salute to Tivoli who also hosts a firework show when the old park closes.
This poster was only published for the 150th birthday so the poster circulation of this motif has obviously been very low. Furthermore, the print was made as a silk screen print meaning the texture and colors of the print is in very high quality.
As seen on the pictures, the poster is shaped round in the top. I believe the could have been made this was by intention to fit a poster stand or possibly on the Carlsberg trucks used back then. I know several Carlsberg and Tuborg posters with the round shape in the top from the same period.
